Habitat News
Habitat for Humanity Women Build volunteers may have changed worksite locations, but their building and fundraising enthusiasm is as steadfast as ever. Because of unstable soil conditions, the location of the first Winona County Women Build Home — originally planned for 166 Edward Street — has moved around the corner to 182 Edward Street. With the help of the Winona Port Authority, Habitat was able to close on the new property on Friday, June 11. The new lot will accommodate the same house plan, and crews have had an amazing summer getting us back on schedule and then some! The roof is on, interior walls are build, and the house will soon be enclosed! Way to go Women!!!!!! Additionally, Women Build teams have successfully reached and surpassed their original goal of raising $100,000 for the home’s construction! However, the 18 teams continue to roll up their pink sleeves for fundraising efforts. Their goal is to surpass the home’s actual $125,000 construction cost. | News• Raise the Roof Even Poster [PDF: 311 KB - Aug 23, 2010]• Incognito Headlines Raise the Roof Fundraiser • Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity will co-host annual ‘Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project’ • Playhouse Raffle • Habitat Women Build Volunteers ‘raising the roof (and walls)’ at New Site • Thrivent Awards Grant in Fillmore County for 2010 |
