We will double our impact, but we must move to grow.

Open since 2003, the Winona ReStore was the first ReStore in Minnesota! It has served us well, but we can no longer deny that we have outgrown it. Our current space has an awkward layout, insufficient square footage for retail, and no property beyond the building’s walls for expansion. The drop-off is located on a busy street and leads into an inadequate processing room that quickly overflows. Oftentimes, we even find ourselves unable to accept large-scale donations that are the most profitable. When we cannot accept donations, reusable goods end up in the landfill. Most importantly, the current location does not generate enough revenue to support growth.

Renewing the ReStore

126 North Baker Street has an open-format building with a 1.76 acre lot. With refurbished exterior, welcoming entry and rain garden in place of a vacant building, the neighborhood will benefit by having Habitat as a neighbor. Donating to the ReStore will be easier and hassle free. Our covered donation drop-off will provide convenient, covered shelter able to accommodate waiting cars.

The Benefits

The benefits of expansion are numerous. With a larger building we will be able to raise more money to help more families in Winona and Fillmore Counties, unite operations under one roof, increase ReStore sales, streamline contractor and builder drop-off to improve convenience, and empower homeowners with community education classes.

How Can You Help?

Many of us who live in the Winona and Fillmore area realize it is critical to grow the Habitat for Humanity organization with quality and cost effectiveness in mind. The Habitat Board of Directors has a consistent and standing commitment to the belief that: everyone deserves a safe, decent, affordable place to live. When someone asks you for your involvement in the Capital Campaign, say, “Yes!” and give generously! If you are interested in getting involved, contact Amanda Hedlund: director@habitatwinona.org or (507) 458-9370.
